WPBFD History

A large crowd gathered at the intersection of Clematis Street and South Dixie Highway to watch the spectacle. In this photo taken later in the fire the ladder pipe has been moved closer to the front of the building and two pump lines are in operation from the street. Another pump line is being advanced to the roof just out of the photo to the left. SEE PHOTO BELOW

Moving onto the roof of Bakers Shoe Store . Firefighter Brian Tucker is manning\the ladder pipe. He was in and out of the heavy smoke as the wind changed. Advancing the pump line with cellar nozzle to the roof are (L) Benny Thompson,, (R ) Charles Buice, Unidentified firefighter on parapet wall.
